An 8.23-metre high pyramid made of 54,740 champagne glasses has set a new Guinness World Record for the "largest beverage glass pyramid" at the luxury hotel "Atlantis The Palm" in Dubai.

The record was co-organised by Moët & Chandon as part of the champagne house's "Effervescence" event series. Judges from Guinness World Records were on hand to inspect the pyramid.

A team of specialists from the Dutch company Luuk Broos Events had erected the pyramid between Christmas and New Year. This surpassed its previous record, which it achieved in Madrid in 2017. The glasses used will now be recycled and used as glassware for the rooms and suites at Atlantis The Palm.

Moët & Chandon had already set the first world record for the highest Champagne tower in 1983 with 2,757 crystal glasses.
