On June 8, 2026, the German Wine Institute (DWI) will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Generation Riesling at the KUZ Cultural Center Mainz. The event is exclusively aimed at professionals from gastronomy, trade, and media and lasts from 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM.
At 2:00 PM, sommelier Toni Askitis will kick off the program with the seminar "Generation Riesling – Cheers to 20 Years." Registration is required due to limited seating. The official opening will follow at 3:00 PM with a speech by DWI head Melanie Broyé-Engelkes.
Following this, a walk-around tasting will start, where 25 winemakers from nine German wine regions will present around 150 wines. In the afternoon, two moderated discussions will take place: at 4:15 PM "Generation Riesling: A/My Success Story" and at 5:15 PM "Next Gen: Between Label, Mindset & Responsibility." Both talks will be moderated by Conny Ganß, and separate registration is not required.
Starting at 6:30 PM, an aftershow party with DJ music and wines from the participating wineries will conclude the event.
Generation Riesling was founded on June 8, 2006, by the German Wine Institute and serves as a platform for winemakers under 35 years old from Germany.
