With an average of 20.83 euros, wine lovers in Iceland have to pay the most in Europe for a bottle of mid-range wine. This is reported by The Drinks Business. The European average price for a bottle of wine of this quality is around 8.16 euros.

The data is based on the price ranking 2025 of the online platform Numbeo, which makes living costs comparable and also records the average wine prices. Norway with 14.46 euros and Switzerland with 13 euros occupy 2nd and 3rd place among the countries with the highest wine prices in Europe. Finland with 12.50 euros and Ireland with twelve euros follow in 4th and 5th place.

In 31 out of 40 European countries considered (including Russia and Belarus), the average price for a bottle of mid-range wine is between five and ten euros. For Germany, Numbeo has calculated a price of 5.99 euros; this means 28th place. Wine prices are only below five euros per bottle in Portugal (4.99 €), Hungary (4.88 €), Ukraine (4.12 €), and Moldova (4.05 €).

Higher than in Iceland, the price for a bottle of wine is only in Bahrain with 22.80 euros in a global comparison.
