Wine exports from Italy increased by 21.1 per cent in the first two months of the year compared to the previous year. In total, wine worth one billion euros was exported. This is according to the current figures from the Italian statistics office Istat. While exports to Germany (-0.76%), China (-18.2%) and South Korea (-5.3%) declined, sales to Great Britain in particular increased significantly with a plus of 76.9 per cent. The North American market also draws positive balances: 17.5 per cent more wines were shipped to the USA than in 2021, and Canada increased its imports by 29 per cent. Japan also recorded a plus of 19.2 percent and Hong Kong, the preferred gateway for many Italian top wines on the Asian market, reports a plus of 37.5 percent.
