At the Sworders of Stansted auction house in England, a wine bottle was auctioned off for the equivalent of around 2,560 euros, which is said to have been on board the HMS Bounty when the ship was commandeered by a rebel crew. The empty wine bottle had only been expected to fetch the equivalent of 350 euros, but it far exceeded the auction's estimate. The BBC reports that the bottle was part of the collection of Lieutenant William Bligh, who commanded HMS Bounty on her mission to the South Pacific in 1789. Bligh's collection of items went under the hammer for a total of around 23,200 euros.
