Wine writer Miquel Hudin has organised a charity auction of top Catalan wines, the proceeds of which will go to humanitarian organisations in Ukraine. The selection ranges from top wines from Priorat, some of which are over 20 and even 50 years old, to white wines from Penèdes and special magnum bottles from Corpinnat. In addition, Hudin is auctioning off a one-day tour for four people with him through the priory. The day includes three cellar visits, transport, guidance and organisation. Miquel Hudin comes from California and has been living in Catalonia for many years. The auction under the motto "Wines for Ucraine" has been running since 21 March until midnight on 1 April.

The proceeds will go to three aid organisations: the Ukrainian Red Cross, the non-profit association "Come Back Alive", which provides protective clothing and equipment for Ukrainian soldiers, and "World Central Kitchen" on the Polish-Romanian border. The new owners of the auctioned bottles can choose which organisation they want to support. The shipment of the wines will be coordinated by Miquel Hudin after the auction. The logistics company Cargowine offers heavily discounted shipping to all countries of the European Union, Great Britain, Switzerland, Norway, the United States and Hong Kong.

The Austrian winery Heribert Bayer from Neckenmarkt is donating 1,500 bottles of Chardonnay under the name "The Fat Dove of Peace". The idea for the charity wine had already emerged in 2019. The events of the past weeks and the increasingly devastating situation in Ukraine have prompted the Bayers to release "Die fette Friedenstaube" three months earlier than originally planned. "The time has now come for this wine - even though we never imagined at the time that we would be helping war-affected people from Ukraine with it," says winemaker Patrick Bayer.

The wine is now available in 0.75 litre bottles (ex farm 36.00 euros) and magnums (ex farm 74.00 euros) and can be ordered in advance via the online shop, by e-mail or by phone. Delivery will take place in mid-April. The net proceeds will be divided between Caritas, SOS Children's Village and Doctors Without Borders.
