The trade magazine "Weinwirtschaft" has chosen the "Wine Merchants of the Year 2019". The prize winners this year are: Pinard le Picard from Saarwellingen in the category mail order and online trade, the wine shop St. Pauli from Hamburg in the category retail trade, the wine shop St. Pauli In Hamburg in the category wine retail trade the Rewe Center Bruchsal in the category food retail trade and Walter & Sohn wine shops from Munich in the category specialised wholesale trade.

The jury singled out Pinard de Picard as an "ambassador for good taste, for value and for added value, especially for German and French wines". The company has "created a unique cycle since its foundation in 1997, the hub of which is mail-order and online trade".

According to the jury, the best specialist wine retailer, the St. Pauli wine shop, inspires a young, quality-conscious public for wine with its familiar and innovative concept and also appeals to those who have never tried wine before. For owner Stephanie Döring, easy access to the products, the highest quality standards and respect are the top priorities.

The excellently stocked wine department in the Rewe Center Bruchsal also convinced the jurors. The wine department shows how the borders between specialised trade and food trade are slowly disappearing. Holger Appel and his team succeed in "presenting themselves in an extraordinary way every day". In doing so, they convey a culture of enjoyment.

Guido Walter and Katrin Simonis from the specialist wholesaler "Walter & Sohn Weinhandlungen" in Munich see wines as a cultural asset, and they also convey this to their customers. For them, wine is diversity. Within ten years, their turnover has increased tenfold.
