On August 25, Pfalzwein e.V. as well as the communities and wineries of the region will open the Wine Route Day on a route of more than 80 kilometers. The organizers expect about 200,000 visitors along the Wine Route, which is closed to car traffic.

"Once a year, when the cars stay away, our Wine Route shows its most beautiful side. Every year, the towns and communities provide for highlights with clubs, wineries and winegrowers' cooperatives," says Detlev Janik, managing director of Pfalzwein. Together with the towns and communities along the German Wine Route, the wine advertising organization organizes the event day.

This year, the longest wine festival in the Palatinate will open at 10 a.m. in Edenkoben. Between Schweigen-Rechtenbach and Bockenheim, the Palatinate offers a colourful entertainment programme with music, sports, games and fun along the route until 6 pm under the motto "Friends of the Palatinate". There is also a folk run (10 kilometres) starting in Kirchheim, and an adventure day train runs through the vineyards in the north of the wine route. As every year, the organisers advise you to travel by public transport.
