Vintage 2019 in Austria "among the best of the last decades

The quality of the 2019 vintage is highly praised by international critics. This is the result of a compilation of expert opinions collected by Österreich Wein Marketing (ÖWM).

" 'The myth of nine lives on', 'Lucky number 9', 'A gift from heaven' - the Austrian press was full of praise for the new vintage at the beginning of the year. Already the very first wines raised hopes for another 'real niner' - based on top vintages such as 1999 and 2009", says a press release from ÖWM. More than half a year later, there is now much to suggest that Austria's winegrowers have indeed achieved a great success with the 2019 vintage.

In the "Falstaff Weinguide 2020/21" the evaluation level for white wines according to ÖWM was higher than ever before with an average of 91.3 points. Praise was also given by Jancis Robinson MW and Julia Herding MW as well as Stuart Pigott, who ranked Austria's 2019 wines among the best of the last decades: "I have been tasting in Austria regularly since 1988 and 2019 is certainly one of the best vintages I have ever tasted there", the ÖWM.
