The wine harvest in Italy in 2020 is expected to be close to the 2019 level. This was reported by the trade magazine WEIN+MARKT with reference to the Italian associations Unione Italiana Vini (UIV), Istituto di servizi per il mercato agricolo alimentare (ISMEA) and Associazione Enologi Enotecnici-Italiani (Assoenologi).

According to the associations' estimates, the expected harvest for this year is about 47.2 million hectolitres, only slightly less than the 2019 harvest, which, according to the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV), was 47.5 million hectolitres.

Italy has consistently ranked first in global wine production since 2015.
