"A round thing" is the title of a series of events at the "Alte Schule Rheingau" cultural venue in Geisenheim on the subject of football. On 6 October, host Robert Lönarz, President and co-founder of the German national winegrowers' football team - WEINELF - will welcome six guests who will tell entertaining anecdotes from their history. Among them are the former Federal Minister of Defence Dr. Franz Josef Jung as honorary captain, the Secretary General of the European association of eight football nations "UENFW - Union of European national football teams of winemakers e.V." Erica Fischbach and winemaker Andreas Spreitzer, who captained the WEINELF to the European Championship title in 2014.
In addition, there will be a tasting of eleven wines, loosely based on the founding motto of the WEINELF "Eleven bottles you must be". For initiator Volkmar Nägler, football and wine are the most beautiful side things in the world, because "The truth is on the pitch and in the wine!"
