The well-known Styrian top winemaker Walter Polz has taken over the management of the Domaines Kilger winery in Wies, which was founded only five years ago. It belongs to the entrepreneur and former tax consultant and auditor Hans Kilger. In spring 2021, the winery is to move from Wies to the Gamlitz Castle, which was leased in 2019 and whose renovation is to start in a few weeks. In the future, it will serve as a representative office for the winery and the meat products of Domaines Kilger. There will also be a separate sparkling wine cellar that visitors can enter.
Walter Polz is a founding member of the Styrian Terroir and Classic Winegrowers. Until he left the winery, which he runs with his brother, in March, he made sure that his wines became internationally known.
