The 53rd Vinitaly wine fair in Verona ended with a targeted decrease in visitors from 128,000 to 125,000 guests from 145 countries. The number of exhibitors increased by 130 to 4,600 companies compared to 2018. This is a new record, the fair announced. About 33,000 international buyers came to Verona. Most came from the USA, followed by Germany, Great Britain, China and Canada.
In addition, 80,000 people interested in wine took advantage of the events of the trade fair's supporting programme "Vinitaly in the City" in the old town and in the surrounding wine villages. This was 20,000 more than in the previous year.
The next Vinitaly is scheduled to take place in Verona from 19 to 22 April 2020.
