The Spanish Vega Sicilia winery is investing 20 million euros in 24 hectares of vineyards and a new winery in Crecente (see picture) in Spain's northwestern Rias Baixas region. This was announced by the Tempos Vega Sicilia group, ending months of speculation about its involvement in the cool white wine region on the Atlantic. Initially, two white wines are to be produced, the two-year aged crianza called Deiva and the three-year aged premium wine Arnela. Both are to go on sale in 2025. The goal is to produce 300,000 bottles a year, mainly from the white Albariño grape.

As the Spanish business newspaper Cinco Días reports, Vega Sicilia made a profit of 30 million euros in 2021 on a turnover of 60 million euros. The group includes wineries in Ribera del Duero, Rioja, Toro as well as in Hungary.
