The members of the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates (VDP) look back on the VDP.wine exchange 2017 with "utmost satisfaction". According to the Association, the largest trade fair for German top wines took place on 23 and 34 April in the Rheingoldhalle in Mainz.

According to the VDP, over 3,000 wine professionals from trade, gastronomy and the media came to this 44th wine exchange, at which 182 VDP winegrowers presented a total of 1521 wines. More than half of these were Rieslings, followed by Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc. According to the association, "the proportion of international visitors has risen significantly", with wine experts from Scandinavia and Eastern Europe being particularly well represented.

At the event "the freshly bottled wines of the 2016 vintage were the focus of interest," according to the VDP. The guests had given the vintage an overall positive assessment: "Cooler, somewhat lighter and moderate in alcohol, but at the same time more mineral than the wines of the previous year, the wines at the Wine Exchange showed themselves to be more mineral Within the four-level VDP classification, the majority of the wines presented were VDP estate wines, with the second largest group representing the top wines from the VDP's great sites.
