On Sunday 23 April and Monday 24 April 2017, the VDP invites the trade public to Mainz for the Weinbörse, which it claims is the world's largest trade fair for German top wines.

There, wine professionals will get a comprehensive overview of the estate and local wines, wines from the Erste Lagen as well as the new releases of the 2016 vintage, secure their quotas and put together their portfolios.

The dry tops of the classification pyramid, the Grosse Gewächse, are still maturing until September. Interestingly, a statistic of the indications of origin in the quality wine productions in Rhineland-Palatinate underlines the private-law classification of the vineyard sites initiated by the VDP, the association announced. According to this, almost 80 per cent of all wines from the wine-growing regions in Rhineland-Palatinate would bear a regional indication of origin, which would correspond to the estate wine. Only 10 per cent of the wines were marketed with a single vineyard designation. The segment of local wines would also continue to grow.

On Sunday, 23 April, the wine fair will open in the Rheingoldhalle in Mainz, Rheinstr. 66, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Monday, 24 April from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Only trade visitors are admitted. Admission is free of charge. The organisers have organised a supporting programme in Mainz restaurants around the wine exchange.
