The VDP has cancelled the Mainz Wine Exchange 2021 due to the restrictions caused by the Corona pandemic. The association had planned the already postponed date for the period from 4 to 6 July. But the necessary permits from the state as well as the city of Mainz would still not be available. "After an intensive exchange, the presidium as well as the management has decided to cancel the wine exchange," a VDP statement said.
"After we could not receive a corresponding signal to hold the event despite constant contact with the ministry and the public order office - and thus about 14 days before the event - this is not to be expected before 2.7. and serving alcohol at large events is questionable, a reassessment of the situation was necessary," the association writes. However, due to the short time available for planning, further waiting would not make sense. The next Wine Exchange is scheduled to take place in Mainz in 2022.
