The VDP wineries will be releasing 612 Grosse Gewächse from 336 classified sites on 1 September. Of the 460 white wines, 361 are from the 2019 vintage, 93 from 2018 and six from 2014 to 2012. 125 of the 152 red wines now released are from 2017, the remaining 18 are from 2016 to 2014. The average GG price this year is around 33 euros.

The largest number of Grosses Gewächse, 93 wines, comes from the Pfalz, followed by Baden with 91 and Mosel-Saar-Ruwer with 88 GGs. Among the grape varieties, Riesling continues to lead with 353 GGs, followed by Pinot Noir with 124 and Pinot Blanc with 38 wines. These are followed by Silvaner, Lemberger, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Frühburgunder and Traminer.

The increase in the 336 "Große Lagen" is stabilising at a very high level: in 2005, member wineries had only 152 classified top vineyards.
