The so far anonymous US buyers of the Cru Classé Château Lascombes in Margaux are the billionaire Gaylon Lawrence from Tennessee as well as Master Sommelier Carlton McCoy Jr. Their Lawrence Wine Estates group of companies already bought the top wineries Heitz Cellar, Burgess Cellars and Stony Hill in Napa Valley between 2018 and 2021, as well as other farms and wine companies there. This is reported by the Decanter. According to its information, the insurance group MACSF will retain a minority stake in the château, which was founded as early as 1625.

"With such exceptional vineyards, we are confident that we can make some of the region's most exceptional wines, and we have full confidence that technical director Delphine Barboux can achieve this," Carlton McCoy Jr. told Decanter, adding: "We will spare no expense to ensure we can realise its full potential."
