In an accident during the harvest in Longen on the Moselle a few days ago, a tractor and trailer fell about 30 metres. According to a report by the police in Trier, workers were busy harvesting grapes in the vineyards. They were using a tractor with a winch to pull the harvested grapes up the steep slope and load them into the attached harvest trailer. Due to a misuse of the winch, the tractor rolled backwards three metres. The tractor came loose from the cable, slid down the steep vineyard, overturned and came to rest on its roof after about 30 metres.
The fire brigade secured the tractor and trailer until a towing service could recover them from the steep slope. No persons were injured. The damage amounted to about 15,000 euros.
