The "Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux" (CIVB) has "high hopes" for the 2020 Bordeaux vintage, and the winegrowers' association announced that the harvest of 5 million hl was just below the average of the past ten years. The organisation of the vineyard work under the conditions of the Corona lockdown was a "tough test". In contrast, the weather conditions were "ideal" for the ripening of the grapes. The warm to hot autumn with nevertheless cool night temperatures had optimally advanced the ripening process.

The harvest for the Crémant grapes had already started on August 15th, the Merlot followed around September 5th, the Cabernet Sauvignon followed on September 14th. The last day of the harvest ended on 30 September. The high phenolic ripeness of the grapes had made an excellent development of the aroma possible, and an optimal balance between alcohol, tannins and acidity had been achieved. The CIVB was delighted with the quality: "This vintage will go down in the history of Bordeaux wines," the association wrote.
