The Sotheby's auction house has announced the world's largest and presumably highest-turnover wine auction in history. In Hong Kong between 29 and 31 March, around 17,000 bottles in 2,704 lots are to be auctioned. The estimated price is currently up to 26 million dollars in total. It is to be expected that this figure will be significantly exceeded.

The bottles come from the cellar of a private, anonymous collector. Sotheby's has given it the name "The Transcendent Collector". 250 lots of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti from five decades will be auctioned as well as more than 80 lots of Maison and Domaine Leroy. In addition, over 600 lots of the Domaine Coche-Dury will be auctioned, whose vintages are altogether more extensive than the current stocks of the winery.

The famous wines of the Rhône include 140 lots of Guigal from La Landonne, La Mouline and La Turque. From the Bordelais come top wines such as Mouton Rothschild 1945, La Mission Haut-Brion 1945 and 1959, Lafite 1961 and Latour 1959, as well as rare bottles and vintages of Dom Pérignon from the 1960s and 1970s.
