The Consorzio Barbera d'Asti e Vini del Monferrato has released a new DOCG in Piedmont: The DOCG Terre Alfieri in the south-west of the province of Asti and in Cuneo comprises eleven villages and allows the cultivation of Arneis for white wines and Nebbiolo for red wines. For wines in the "Superiore" category, Arneis must be aged for six months and Nebbiolo for twelve months, with at least six months in barrique for the reds. The Nebbiolo-Riserva is aged for at least 24 months, including twelve months in wooden barrels.
