The port house Taylor's is releasing a Tawny aged for 50 years in used oak casks. According to director Adrian Bridge, the Golden Age Tawny takes into account the increased interest in old ports. Taylor's, for example, already has limited editions of a 125-year-old and a 150-plus-year-old port.
According to Taylor's, the wines for the Golden Age Tawny come from the eastern foothills of the Douro Valley and were stored for half a century at constantly cool temperatures and high humidity. Taylor's describes the aroma of the port "with notes of rum sultana, cloves, nutmeg, black pepper, plums, quince and apricots, as well as lemon and orange peel". The recommended retail price is 215 euros.
