Italian star tenor Andrea Bocelli has launched his own wine brand "Bocelli 1831". Bocelli has sold over 90 million records and generated more than 16 billion streams to date. The year 1831 refers to the founding year of the family farm, which has always included wine. The Bocelli family's vineyards between Lajatico and Volterra in Tuscany are up to 70 years old. Tuscan grape varieties such as Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Colorino, Malvasia, and Trebbiano are grown. Cabernet Sauvignon was added ten years ago.
In collaboration with the family-run winery Zonin 1821, three wines have been created under the brand "Bocelli 1831": a Prosecco DOC, a Bianco IGT Toscana made from Viognier and Vermentino, and a Rosso IGT Toscana made from Sangiovese, Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. These wines are produced by Zonin 1821 and marketed and distributed in both Italian and international trade. Originally, the wines were designed to be varietal, but after tasting, Bocelli, whose brother Alberto runs the family business, switched to blends. "I have a clear vision of the quality I strive for, shaped by the privilege of tasting some of the best wines in the world," said Bocelli. "I refuse to compromise on quality, authenticity, or sustainability." The wines should remain affordable for as many people as possible and "not gather dust in collectors' shelves, but be uncorked with joy and ease." In the British market, they will cost between 13 and 15 euros. Prices in Europe are not yet known.
The labels are equipped with Braille to help visually impaired individuals not only identify the name of the wine but also understand the visual design of the bottle. Bocelli has been blind since he was twelve years old. The wines are expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2025.
