The wine village of Soave, east of Verona, has been named Italy's most beautiful village in the Italian television programme Kilimangiaro on the Rai3 channel. The community of 7,000 inhabitants has already received several awards in the past. For example, Soave was the first Italian appellation to be included in the National Register of Landscapes of Historic Interest. This was followed shortly afterwards by recognition as a Global Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS-FAO) by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations.

Viticulture in Soave is existential for its inhabitants. Sustainable cultivation far away from industrial processes and a close connection between landscape, local products and the associated rural communities is the guiding principle of the region.

Sandro Gini, winemaker and president of the Soave Consortium, emphasises the link between the village of Soave and the wine of the same name. "Soave is not only the name of our beautiful village, but also the name of our white wine, which is one of the most famous in the world. The current award is a recognition that takes into account the whole. It consists of our history, the distinctive landscapes and the Garganega vineyards that have covered these hills for centuries."
