The Schlumberger Group from Meckenheim is offering its customers and their employees from the gastronomy and upscale wine trade to participate in further training at the International Wine Institute (IWI) from spring. The aim is for employees to use the specialist knowledge they gain to improve their advisory skills. According to Schlumberger, the aim is to provide first-class wine advice that will help to ensure the economic success of the companies. The Schlumberger Group assumes most of the costs for its clients.

To this end, the IWI offers a four-stage training concept with certified degrees. The exams are taken under private law through the IWI, under public law through a chamber of commerce and internationally through the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET). The further education courses are designed as "blended learning" with digital training, attendance phases and self-study. This also has financial advantages for restaurateurs and retailers due to lower travel and accommodation costs.

Schlumberger customers will be able to book the further training offer from March 2023. If there are more applications than places, a lottery will decide.
