After 28 years, oenologist Sandrine Garbay is moving from the top wine estate Château d'Yquem in Sauternes to the Premier Cru Classé wine estate Château Guiraud. The organic-certified winery had recently changed hands. Matthieu Gufflet, founder of the EPSA group, now holds the majority share. Gufflet also owns the 40-hectare Château de Callac wine estate in the Graves appellation, which Sandrine Garbay is also to take care of as cellar master. She succeeds Luc Planty, who has been in charge of Château Guiraud so far. Pierre Lurton, president of Château d'Yquem, and Lorenzo Pasquini, director, appreciated Sandrine Garbay's work since 1994 and were happy that she would stay with the Sauternes appellation.
