Sales of rosé from Provence fell by 7 per cent to one million hl in 2020 compared to 2019, but exports rose by 6 per cent to 430,000 hl. This is what Brice Eymard, managing director of the marketing association of Provence CIVP said to the news agency AFP. According to the report, exports of the three AOC regions Côtes de Provence, Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence and Coteaux Varois en Provence rose by 5.6 per cent to 4.9 million cases (12 bbls) in 2020, while the other French appellations sold significantly less abroad. According to his figures, Champagne, for example, recorded a drop of 17 per cent. Only Burgundy's exports were 1.4 per cent higher than in 2019.

In addition, the rosé wines of Provence, whose top estates are currently attracting investors, grew by 0.7 per cent in value to around 297 million euros in 2020. Provence ranks sixth among French wine regions in terms of value. According to the figures, the price for a bottle of AOC rosé currently starts at about 15 euros and - for example at the LVMH wine estate Château d'Esclans - can meanwhile exceed the value of 100 €.
