Wine-loving athletes can now join the running community "RieslingRunners". The group, initiated by the Munich agency WeinKommunikatoren, offers its members the opportunity to exchange ideas with each other, share experiences and recommendations and arrange to train together or take part in sporting events. Membership is free - interested parties simply register on the website www.riesling-runners.de with some personal details such as name, place of residence, year of birth, sports and favourite wine.

The community is aimed at vintners, sommeliers, restaurateurs, wine merchants and other professionals as well as private wine lovers who enjoy running. The organisers of running events in the 13 German wine-growing regions are also addressed. Members can order a running shirt with the logo of the "RieslingRunners" via the website to carry their passion to the outside world and appear as a team at events. Five euros of the shirt purchase price of 29.90 euros go as a donation to the non-profit organisation "Wine Saves Life".

In the "RieslingRunners" blog, the members of the running community can report on wine and sports experiences or trips, reveal individual tricks and give tips on attractive running or cycling routes. GPX data of recommended routes can also be uploaded and shared within the community. In another section on the website, members can enter events to inform the group about them and, if necessary, organise teams to take part.

Partners of the "RieslingRunners" include the European wine network Wein-Plus.eu and the agency isarbrands. "The enjoyment of wine and a sporting approach to life are not mutually exclusive - on the contrary. After the 'Weinelf Deutschland', which has already been successful in football for several years, the 'RieslingRunners' would like to establish themselves as the running section of the German wine scene", explains DWI marketing manager Steffen Schindler, who, as an enthusiastic runner himself, is one of the founding members of the community. Initiator Alexander Schreck from WeinKommunikatoren adds: "We are still looking for 'RieslingRunners Ambassadors' for all German wine-growing regions who will act as sporting ambassadors in their region. And of course sponsors are also welcome as supporters of the community."

The running community is also active on social media under the hashtag #RieslingRunners.
