Organised by Messe Düsseldorf with British organiser UBM, ProWine China 2018, which took place in Shanghai from 13 to 15 November, recorded over 750 exhibitors from 39 countries and a 20 per cent increase in exhibition space. The organiser counted 18,936 wine and spirits professionals as visitors. This corresponds to a growth of 33.2 per cent compared to 2017, Messe Düsseldorf reports. Significantly more visitors came from regions outside Shanghai - for example, from Beijing, Guangdong, Xinjiang, Hainan, Shandong, Liaoning or Fujian.

In the fifth year, ProWine China has, according to the organiser, "finally established itself in Shanghai". It is the youngest member of the ProWein family of international trade fairs for wines and spirits. The international exhibitors had confirmed the high quality of the contacts and emphasised the initiation of new business with industry partners from China. For example, the fair offered wines and spirits from traditional wine countries such as Australia, Austria, Chile, Spain, Germany or France. The majority of exhibitors were globally active wine producers who wanted to tap into the Chinese market.
