The ProWein has, according to figures from Messe Düsseldorf, been visited by around 42,000 trade visitors from 128 countries. This is 5,000 visitors fewer than last year (47,000). The number of exhibitors is also continuing to decline: While there were still 5,326 companies in 2024, the fair is now talking about nearly 4,200 exhibiting companies from 65 countries this year.
Compared to the trade fair "Wine Paris", ProWein has clearly lost attractiveness. The Paris fair has surpassed ProWein this year for the first time with over 50,000 visitors and 5,300 exhibitors. Especially wineries from Italy decided against participating in Düsseldorf and for the French competition.
Despite the negative development, Marius Berlemann, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf, emphasized the importance of the fair as a platform for the industry: "The long-standing international orientation and expertise of ProWein underscores its outstanding position in the global trade fair market." ProWein has confirmed its role as the leading trade fair in the industry, especially through its strong international orientation. About 60 percent of the trade visitors came from abroad, including top buyers from the USA, Great Britain, Japan, and China. Fresh white and rosé wines were particularly in demand, which was reflected in the high visitor numbers in the German exhibition halls.
The upcoming ProWein will take place from March 15 to 17, 2026.
The editorial team will publish a detailed report in the coming days with backgrounds, statements, and impressions from exhibitors and visitors of the fair.
