The Prosecco producer Etile Carpenè from the winery Carpenè-Malvolti, founded in 1868, has passed away at the age of 80 in Conegliano. This was announced by the family in a press release. Etile Carpenè was responsible for the great success of the historic winery in Conegliano, which was the first winery ever to produce Prosecco. After studying oenology at the University of Talence in Bordeaux, he completed a chemistry degree at the University of Ferrara. He then began working in the family business and later became its managing director and president. In this role, he expanded production, enhanced and strengthened distribution, supported the brand image with advertising campaigns on television and in the press, and made the name Carpenè Malvolti known worldwide. He also held various positions, including the chair of the Instituto per il Metodo Classico. He was also involved in two mandates on the board of the Consorzio Tutela Prosecco, where he worked with foresight and great commitment for the appellation.
“Etile Carpenè dedicated his life to research and wine culture. He inspired generations of students and professionals with his passion and commitment to his homeland,” the family said in their statement. He had already transferred the management of the Carpenè-Malvolti company to his daughter Rosanna several years ago.
