The Prosecco DOC appellation closed the year 2022 with an excellent business record. According to current data of the consortium, a total of 638.5 million bottles of Prosecco DOC were sold with an estimated total value of more than 3 billion euro. Thereby, the production volume increased by 1.8 percent and the sales value by 11.5 percent compared to the previous year. For the first time, the export ratio reached 81.2 percent. A record-breaking growth was recorded for Prosecco DOC in the USA. There, 5.8 percent more than in 2021 were sold. This is the first time that the quantities are above those sold to Great Britain. With over 134 million bottles, the USA is the most important market for the appellation, followed by Great Britain, Germany and France.
The 2022 harvest was satisfactory for producers in terms of both quantity and quality, so that the expected demand for 2023 can be met, the Prosecco Consortium said in its statement.
