For the concluded en primeur campaign for the 2025 vintage in Bordeaux, Château Pontet-Canet has announced its price as the first winery. It is approximately 48 euros, averaging two euros per bottle lower than the prices of 2024. This is reported by the industry magazine Vitisphere. Thus, the downward trend at Pontet-Canet continues: The price drop compared to 2023 was already five euros, and there was a price collapse of 25 euros per bottle compared to 2022.

In an interview with Vitisphere, François-Xavier Maroteaux, president of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux, estimates for the 2025 vintage that it will be "starting from the prices of 2024." According to him, "2025 will belong to the great vintages of Bordeaux." It is "the first time that such a large vintage is offered in such small quantities." Due to heat and drought, the harvest quantity for 2025 in Bordeaux is considered historically low at around 36 million hectoliters. It was even lower than in 2024.

Sophia Gilmour, market analyst at the trading platform Liv-ex, sees for the producers "the temptation to raise prices before the market is ready to absorb them." She cites increased costs and high ratings as motives. Although price increases have brought short-term profits in the past, this has come at the expense of long-term brand image and buyer trust. "The 25s, no matter their quality, will find themselves stacked alongside the previous four vintages in surplus-laden warehouses if priced incorrectly," warns Gilmour.

According to Vitisphere, 5,000 visitors came to the Bordeaux wine region for the presentation of the 2025 vintage during the en primeur week. This is ten percent more than last year. The share of foreign guests increased from 27 to 31 percent. Most of them came from the United Kingdom, followed by the USA, Belgium, Switzerland, and Germany. In total, visitors from 76 countries attended; the previous year there were 69 nations.
