Canadian pop singer Avril Lavigne presents her first wine. The Pinot Noir produced by the California winery Banshee Wines is named after Lavigne's first big hit from 2002, "Complicated," reports the industry portal The Drinks Business. It is marketed as the opposite and is described as "light, velvety with fresh cherry and raspberry notes." The singer says: "I hope everyone opens a bottle with their best friends, turns up the music that started it all for me, and enjoys the moment. Life can be complicated – but a good glass of wine doesn't have to be." The limited wine is exclusively available on the Banshee Wines website for around 25.50 euros.
The winery has already sponsored Avril Lavigne's last tour and previously collaborated with the pop group Duran Duran. Banshee is one of the fastest-growing wine brands in the USA. For the release, it donates around 8,500 euros to the organization She Is The Music, which aims to create more opportunities for women in the music industry, including through songwriting camps.
Collaborations between artists and wine producers have now become a tradition. In recent years, rock bands Queen, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, singer Dolly Parton, and singer Robbie Williams have introduced wines under their names. According to The Drinks Business, the wine brand of Australian Kylie Minogue has sold more than 15 million bottles since 2020.
