A bottle of the first Penfolds Grange vintage 1951 was sold to an unknown buyer at an auction of the Australian auction house Langton's for a record price of 63.600 Euro. This is the highest price ever paid for an Australian wine. Only about 20 bottles of this wine are currently available worldwide. A total of 1092 Penfolds bottles were auctioned off at the biennial auction. A bottle of the vintage 1952 achieved thereby scarcely 29,000 Euro.
