The sommelière, wine consultant and author Paula Bosch received the VDP Silver Badge of Honour at the Mainz Wine Exchange. The Association presents the award annually to a person who has rendered outstanding services to German wine and the concerns of the VDP. In 1981 - at that time still in a true male domain - she was the first sommelière in Germany to go through a hard school, which taught her humility before the product wine, said VDP President Steffen Christmann in his laudation. She knows the top wines of the world in the depth of the vintages. To this end she had worked for decades in Germany's top gastronomy, for example in the three-star restaurant and haute cuisine trendsetter Tantris. Nevertheless, she could also enjoy a simple wine and make wine laymen want to taste it, Christmann praised her work.

Bosch is known for the rough and tumble cordiality with which she meets people - and for giving herself and the wines time to form an opinion. "No snap shots, no arrogance - Paula Bosch is the good soul of wine," emphasized Christmann.

In addition, the association president appointed the two wine bar operators and sommeliers Silvio Nitsche (Wein.Kultur.Bar, Dresden) and Haris Papapostolou (Yamas, Ulm) as "Grape Eagle Sommeliers". The Meininger-Verlag and the VDP thus honoured the two wine professionals "for their innovative and creative wine lists".
