Wine bottles in Italy with photos of Adolf Hitler and inscriptions such as "Sieg Heil!" and "Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Führer" or "Deutschland erwache" are causing a stir across Europe. They have been produced by the Lunardelli winery in Colloredo di Prato since 1995. On their website, the wines produced can be combined with selectable labels of the "Linea Storia" (historical line) and ordered online. But they are also sold in Italian wine shops and supermarkets. The series mainly contains motifs of Hitler and Mussolini, as well as Stalin, Franco, the Italian army and other historical figures. The motif collection "Der Fuhrer" contains 35 labels with photos of Hitler as well as National Socialist functionaries and generals such as Hess, Himmler, Rommel and Dönitz. On some of the labels, Hitler shows the Nazi salute, which is banned in Germany and Austria.

The Europe-wide outrage on Twitter as well as the coverage by many media in Europe was triggered by an Austrian doctor. She had seen such bottles in a supermarket during her holiday in Jesolo (Veneto) and confronted a saleswoman. She could not understand the doctor's horror and said that German and Austrian tourists in particular often bought Hitler wines. Despite many complaints and calls for a boycott - also from the Holocaust Foundation Simon Wiesenthal Center - the business with the tasteless products continues to flourish.

As reported by the Austrian Kronen-Zeitung, two Austrians were already convicted in April of National Socialist re-activation for, among other things, posting photos of the bottles from this series on social media channels.
