The world-renowned Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson has designed the label for the 2019 vintage of Château Mouton Rothschild. The work "Solar Iris of Mouton" presented by him and the owner family is divided into two horizontal stripes: The upper part represents the day with its golden hues, the lower part the night. They frame a black circular window representing Château Mouton Rothschild. Around it, eight ellipses are lined up in a ring. They represent the course of the sun in relation to the earth in Pauillac. The lowest arc symbolises the shortest day of the year, the top arc the longest. The shape of the number 8 refers to the symbol of infinity.

Eliasson has explained his work thus: "The Mouton sun iris is a map of all the sunrises and sunsets that take place at Château Mouton Rothschild in the course of a year. It represents a signature for the vineyard, telling us something about the conditions in which the wine grows and the relationship between the wine and its site."

Château Mouton Rothschild has been commissioning renowned artists to design the label since as early as 1945. They include, for example, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró, Jeff Koons and Andy Warhol.
