In Austria, depending on the production area, harvesting begins in mid-September. The date is a few days later than in the previous vintages and thus for the first time again within the long-term average. The Austrian Winegrowers' Association forecasts a harvest of about 2.3 million hl, which is slightly below the average of the past years. Due to the very hot summer days and the cool nights of the past few days, a high sugar concentration with sufficient acidity could develop.
