The wine-growing game "Hundred Days" makes it possible for people interested in wine and games to work their own virtual vineyard - and produce wine - on their smartphones. Players can start with a small vineyard and go through the main steps of growing and making wine before they have to think about how to market and sell their bottles. In between, there are challenges to overcome such as hailstorms and hot spells. Currently the simulation is set in Piedmont, but there are plans to produce versions for Bordeaux and Napa Valley as well.
Game developer Yves Hohler attended viticulture school in Alba and produces Barbera himself. His goal, he says, was to find a balance between the scientificity of wine production and the necessary fun factor of the game. "Hundred Days" is available in nine different languages, including German, English, Italian, Spanish and French.
