This year's charity auction "Barolo en Primeur" has set a new record. The auction organized by Christie's achieved a revenue of around 1.1 million euros.

A total of 14 barriques of "Barolo Gustava" were auctioned, each yielding 270 bottles, as well as eight lots with a total of 914 bottles of various formats (corresponding to about 925 liters). Additionally, there was a special lot with a 400-liter tonneau of Barolo, which brought in 360,000 euros. In total, 5,525 liters of Barolo and Barbaresco were sold.

For the first time, the bottles are equipped with an invisible NFC tag that guarantees authenticity, origin, and traceability.

The auction has been organized for five years by two foundations in collaboration with the consortium "Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe e Dogliani" at the Castello in Grinzane Cavour. The proceeds go to social and cultural projects in Italy and worldwide. Since the event began in 2021, a total of 4,512,300 euros has been donated to charitable causes.

Another highlight will follow on November 9 during the international truffle fair in Alba. There, the fifteenth and final lot will be auctioned. It is the additional barrique "Barolo Gustava," which will be sold in a live broadcast to Hong Kong.
