The Luiss Business School in Rome and the Accademia Intrecci of the Famiglia Cotarella are setting up a joint master's programme in sustainable tourism for October 2022. The Accademia Intrecci is a private institute for education and training for gastronomy and the hotel industry and is run by Dominga Cotarella and her cousins Marta and Enrica. The aim of the "Master's Degree in Sustainable Tourism" is to create an innovative and high-quality tourism offer that promotes regional and local businesses and respects nature. Art, culture, culinary arts and wine are to be interwoven in the process.

"This master's programme aims to give young people who know and love Italy with its small villages and communities the opportunity to tell their stories professionally. We are more and more convinced that storytelling needs to become much more emotional," Dominga Cotarella said about the project.

The organisers stressed that tourism in Italy had seen a drop in turnover of almost 60 per cent during the Corona pandemic. Now the figures were rising strongly again. However, in order to increase the international appeal, the offer has to be improved, they said. At present, the national cultural, historical, artistic, scenic and gastronomic heritage is not sufficiently promoted.
