The British auction house Christie`s reports a new European price record for luxury wines: At an auction in London a few days ago, a 1988 Romanée Conti box of 12 bottles fetched a whopping 264,000 British pounds, the equivalent of 301,382 euros. Per bottle, this results in a price of 25,110 euros.

The auction of lots from the stock of 23 top Italian wineries and the DRC crate generated proceeds of around 2.17 million euros. Also remarkable was the price of a 12-litre 2015 Ornellaia bottle, which was knocked down for around 4,100 euros. A lot with 18 bottles of Solaia from the vintages 2001, 2004 and 2007 came to just under 4000 euros.
