Château Mouton Rothschild
Image header

The Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos has designed the label for the Château Mouton Rothschild***** 2023. Her work “Paraíso” (Paradise) focuses on a grape and arranges the elements around it that shape a great wine for her: earth, water, sunlight, stars, and the coolness of the nights. The human influence is symbolized by a triangle that pushes into the cycle of nature. All components interlock like pieces of a puzzle. “The vine is at the center of attention and thrives in paradise – the terroir of Mouton Rothschild,” the explanation states.

Joana Vasconcelos is known for her colorful installations. “She uses traditional everyday materials and translates Portugal's artisanal heritage into the modern age. Even at Mouton Rothschild, craftsmanship becomes a work of art, as each vintage is unique and therefore precious,” says co-owner Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild, who is responsible for the artistic activity of the winery.

Since 1945, the labels for Château Mouton Rothschild have been designed by renowned contemporary artists. Among them are Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró, Marc Chagall, Jeff Koons, and Gerhard Richter.
