The luxury goods group LVMH has published its annual results for 2025. In this context, the wine and spirits division Moët Hennessy is again the weakest segment of the group with a revenue decline of nine percent compared to 2024. Compared to 2023, the decrease is even nearly 19 percent.
Cognac and spirits developed significantly weaker than wines and sparkling wines: the former lost twelve percent in revenue (about 27 percent less than in 2023). For wine and sparkling wine, the declines were only three percent compared to 2024 and about eleven percent compared to 2023. A total of 6.2 million fewer bottles of cognac and spirits were sold, and 1.6 million fewer bottles of champagne. In contrast, sales of wine and other sparkling wines even increased by 600,000 bottles. The increase is mainly due to the Provence rosé wines of the group.
The operating profit of Moët Hennessy fell by 25 percent to 1.02 billion euros, with the margin dropping from 23 to 19 percent. Reasons for the declines include changing consumption habits, especially in China and the USA, tariff threats from the USA, and a generally declining demand for premium products.
The overall group had to report a revenue decrease of almost five percent and a profit decline of around nine percent. However, in the fourth quarter of 2025, revenues grew by one percent. The LVMH stock fell by about ten percent after the announcement.
