Angelina Jolie strikes back in the legal dispute over the Château Miraval wine estate. Her company Nouvel is demanding 250 million US dollars in damages from her ex-husband Brad Pitt. The lawyers accuse Brad Pitt of trying to gain sole control over Château Miraval, contrary to the agreements. They also allege that Pitt wasted money on prestige projects such as a swimming pool and the restoration of the Miraval sound studio, thus causing serious damage to Nouvel. The lawsuit is also directed against Pitt's business partners such as Marc Perrin of Château de Beaucastel and some directors of Miraval. After Angelina Jolie wanted to sell her shares in the winery to the Stoli Group, she was sued by Brad Pitt. According to a post-divorce agreement in 2016, shares could not be sold without each other's consent in order to preserve the inheritance for their joint children. Pitt also claimed that Jolie had contributed "nothing" to Miraval's success.

The former Hollywood dream couple had bought Château Miraval in 2008 for 25 million US dollars. There is also a recording studio on the premises where, among other things, parts of the album "The Wall" by the rock group Pink Floyd were recorded.
