The world-famous French winemaker Michel Rolland has handed over the majority of his consulting company Laboratoire Rolland, founded in 1973 in St. Emilion, to his employees. In future it will bear the name Rolland et Associés. The 230 or so clients will now be served by his oenologists Julien Viaud, Mikael Laizet and Jean-Philippe Fort. After 48 vintages, the 72-year-old winemaker and his wife Dany want to join the company's supervisory board in the future. Rolland himself, however, does not intend to retire, but will continue to advise some long-standing customers and above all dedicate himself to tasting.

Rolland also owns several châteaux in Bordeaux. These include Château Bertineau Saint-Vincent in Lalande de Pomerol, Château Rolland-Maillet in Saint-Émilion, Château Fontenil in Fronsac and Château La Grande Clotte in Lussac-Saint-Émilion. He is also in partnerships with the vineyards of Bonne Nouvelle in South Africa, Val de Flores in Argentina, Rolland Galarreta in Sannien and Yacochuya and Clos de los Siete in Argentina.
