Martell Mumm Perrier-Jouët (MMPJ), the wine company of the Pernod-Ricard beverage group, wants to convert all its vineyards to organic or chemical-free viticulture. This was explained by Bernard Pineau, responsible for sustainable viticulture within the company. He intends to launch several pilot projects on the company's 690 ha of vineyards by next year to test various concepts of sustainable cultivation, biodynamics and other methods. However, classical organic cultivation is out of the question because it is too dependent on copper, Pineau said. Martell had already stopped using glyphosate in 2019, Mumm and Perrier-Jouët followed suit this year. He is currently looking for experts to help him implement the project.
